Acknowledge Your Dedicated Staff!

There were a number of Oakland County Special Educators who participated in Professional learning over the summer and we’d like to take a minute to celebrate them!

There are several educators who began their summer by enrolling in the online version of Reading Strategies. These awesome educators began their work right after school let out in June and have until October to complete the course.

The second week in August, three Oakland Schools consultants and eight Oakland County Special Educators, took on the advanced literacy learning of Camp Alec. These dedicated professionals took a week away from their families to take up residence at camp (Sunday through Saturday)! They were totally immersed in camp life, teaching literacy to students with significant disabilities and taking classes instructed by Drs. Karen Erickson and David Koppenhaver. Their days were 10 to 12 hours long, and each and every one of them said the time was well spent!

Birmingham: Patrick O’Neill, Lauren Woodhull Oxford: Amy Devin Rochester: Genet Haise South Lyon: Kristina Cobb Walled Lake: Kristen Domeracki, Kelly Reuter Waterford: Michelle Mendez

Educators also came in for the first days of Explicit Instruction, Enbrighten and Reading Strategies!

They will continue their learning after school for the remainder of the semester.

It’s amazing to see the number of professionals who were investing in student achievement long before the school bell rang!

Please take a minute to acknowledge your staff for going Above and Beyond at Oakland Schools this summer!
