Alternatives to Suspension

Explore how the use of disciplinary sanctions such as in-school and out-of-school suspensions can contribute to the potential for long-term negative outcomes in school performance and discuss how alternatives to suspensions can improve student success. This workshop will focus on the 2014 Federal Supportive School Discipline Initiative, state policy documents, alternatives to suspension options, analyzing discipline data for disproportionality, and targeting insubordination in a PBIS framework.
