Short-term objectives compensate for lack of detail in teen's annual goals

This post is a summary of an LRP CASE FILE bulletinn published March 6, 2017 Copyright 2017© LRP Publications.

The U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York recently ruled that relevant details pertaining to criteria for evaluating success as well as the procedures for evaluating progress included in a student's short term objectives were sufficient to render harmless the omission of these details in the annual goal statements.

It will continue to be Oakland Schools guidance that annual goal statements be written so that the "goal stands alone." Please refer to the guidance speciffic to annual goals on our Compliance webpages.
