OCCMHA Brings myStrength Online Resource to Oakland County
OAKLAND COUNTY, MI (January 26, 2016) – Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority (OCCMHA) is proud to introduce the myStrength, online wellness application to Oakland County beginning Monday, February 1, 2016. myStrength is a free, web and mobile application that offers a range of personalized online resources to improve mental health and overall well-being.
“It is truly a tremendous privilege for OCCMHA to be able to offer Oakland County citizens the myStrength application free of charge,” said Willie Brooks, executive director and CEO of OCCMHA. “This comprehensive and easy to use mental health tool empowers people to monitor and manage their own wellness and recovery.”
myStrength uses proven, evidence-based materials grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, Motivational Interviewing and other empirically, validated therapeutic approaches. The program is designed to be used independently or in conjunction with other care.
After completing the secured, online registration, each user receives a unique homepage on myStrength based on his or her confidential wellness assessment and personal profile. The user can then engage in a personalized eLearning program, with the option to focus on stress management, depression, anxiety, or substance use. The eLearning is supported by simple tools and exercises, mood tracker and daily inspirational quotes and videos in a safe and confidential environment.
Thousands of flyers that include important access information are being distributed throughout the County to promote registration. Federal, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), and County funding has been provided through OCCMHA’s substance use service network team to support the cost of myStrength.
myStrength registration will be available on OCCMHA’s website at www.occmha.org or at www.mystrength.com on February 1st. The access code for Oakland County residents is “OCCMHA.”
