Project SEARCH Celebration!

The Beaumont Project SEARCH celebrated the accomplishments of their 2016-2017 graduates on Monday June, 5, 2017 at the new Qazi Auditorium on the Troy campus. Joining in the celebration were proud family, friends, dignitaries including the Troy Superintendent, and the mayors of Troy and Sterling Heights. Special education administrators and proud teachers from Troy, Rochester, Royal Oak, and Brandon school districts were there to cheer for their young adults. For the Oakland County Collaborative, graduation is an accumulation of support from the Project SEARCH partners including MI Rehabilitation Services, Community Mental Health, MORC, Community Living Services, New Horizons, Oakland Schools and our local school districts.

Nancy Susick, President Beaumont Hospital, Troy kicked off the ceremony by recognizing the contributions of each of the thirteen graduates including their stellar customer service, dedication to quality work, and contributions as members of the Beaumont team.

The commencement address was offered by the Lt. Governor Calley who emphasized hosting Project SEARCH and hiring individuals with disabilities provides an opportunity for inclusion of the extraordinary gifts the young people have to offer. He acknowledged the commitment and the bravery of the families for giving their sons and daughters a chance, an opportunity to participate in Project SEARCH and setting the expectation of employment. His final message to the Project SEARCH interns, you might succeed, you might fail but get out there and try!
