Strategies for a Positive IEP Meeting

This presentation is designed to help you better understand and participate in the individualized Education Plan (IEP) process for children and youth who receive Special Educatino services. Topics will include:

  • Understnading the IEP

  • Identify your child's goals and needs

  • How parents can be involved in the IEP process

  • Strategies to help parents work with the educational team

Transitioning to Adulthood Presented by Karin Chandler, life Solutions for Autism Founder & Life Quality Consultant. This program is for parents or caregivers of children with autism (ages 13-18 yrs). The focus of the workshop will be understanding all the diverse aspects of planning for your child's transition into adulthood. Time will be spent identifying Life Skills needed for success and options available throughout your child's academic career. Post-high school programming and opportunities, as well as available community resources will also be discussed. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch. A 30 minute lunch break will be provided during the course of the day.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT SKILLS TRAINING - For Adults with ASD 12 weeks of pre-employment skills training with strong focus on:

  • "Soft" interpersonal skills (communication, social awareness, networking, team work, accepting criticism, collaboration)

  • Understanding employment (career options, resumes, applications, maintaining a job)

Monday - Friday June 12 - September 1, 2017 (No Session June 29 - July 4)
