Supporting Students with Emotional, Behavioral or Mental Health Challenges in School
Michigan Alliance for Families in Macomb County is offering a free workshop on Wednesday, April 20th, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Clinton Macomb Public Library - South Branch, 35679 South Gratiot Ave., Clinton Township. Sign-in opens at 9:30 am. This session will focus on successfully supporting children and youth with emotional, behavioral or mental health challenges. We will discuss: how mental challenges might affect students in the school setting; ideas to successfully accommodate for their mental health needs through services, supports, accommodations; and partnering with mental health professionals. We will examine current statistics, common barriers to treatment and the importance of mental health awareness in the school setting. I nformation about free Youth Mental Health First Aid training currently available across Michigan will also be shared. Who should attend: families of children/young adults with disabilities or learning challenges, school staff, community members, and organizations.
